USPA NEWS - Spain lead the first Very High Readiness Force NATO. The composition of this first VJTF, which will be declared operational at the Warsaw Summit will feature a Spanish brigade troops and several battalions of allied nations, becoming the spearhead of the Alliance for next year.
The constitution of the VJTF allow NATO to react in a matter of days, against any threat to the Euro-Atlantic security, regardless of their origin. Thus, this force becomes the first firm, supportive and cohesive response of the Alliance, derived from the Plan of Action for the Preparation agreed at the summit of Wales. Spain will also be framework nation with Germany, France, Italy, Poland and the United Kingdom, which will lead to future rotations of the force, ensuring the operation of the VJTF for years.
With this contribution and missions of Air Police in the Baltic and the protection of the population with missile battery 'Patriot' in Turkey, Spain demonstrates its commitment to the Alliance maintaining a substantial contribution to Euro-Atlantic security. The brigade VJTF be a multinational brigade of five maneuver battalions, to be formed on a core of forces contributed by each nation that leads framework, which elements are added other allied nations. The force thus constituted should be ready to deploy in short time, for a year.
In the year preceding activation, will brigade preparation process and certification, must be ready to deploy, if necessary. The following year their activation, the brigade will go to the reserve status, but will also have to be ready for possible deployment.
