Rajoy accepts the order of the King to form a Government

Although he do not have enough support

USPA NEWS - The candidate of the conservative Popular Party and acting President of the Spanish Government, Mariano Rajoy, has accepted the task of forming a Government that made him King Philip VI at the end of the round of consultations with parliamentary speakers from all parties.
Rajoy does not have the parliamentary support to form a Government, but announced that he will seek the necessary support within a reasonable time. In an appearance before the media at the Palace of La Moncloa, Rajoy said he had informed the King of public and private discussions with leaders of the main political forces in order to form a "stable and strong Government to as soon as possible." "We need a Government that faces with the greatest possible consensus, to the very serious challenges before us and do not allow any kind of self-absorption," he said.
In this regard, he recalled that he sent a working document to the parliamentary groups with their approaches, but is open to discussion, "we never consider it as a contract of adhesion, but as a script for negotiation was and is a proposal open to dialogue and agreement that sets big goals for Spain on which we can find consensus and suggested proposals to make such consensus reality."
Rajoy revealed that the King has instructed him to try the investiture to the Prime Minister: "I have explained that, so far, I do not have the support for it, but I accept the charge that seek this support, I have been doing until now and from now on it will also with the task of head of State." "My intention is to negotiate a possible Government program so I will go preferentially to the constitutionalist parties, it seems more reasonable to find agreements, today more than ever a large majority of Spaniards share the same values:.. The defense of unity and national sovereignty, our rights and freedoms, our commitment to the European project and the fight against terrorism."
"I think that consensus is a good meeting point to advance the dialogue," said the acting President and conservative candidate. Rajoy added that his intention is to seek support for a "moderate, stable, with a clear parliamentary support, an action program defined and a timetable for carrying it out" Government, but said that if this option is not possible is willing to "explore the possibility of a minority Government" only with the support of his party.
He acknowledged that "this formula is only possible if the other groups guarantees a minimum loyalty not to block issues as urgent and important" as the objectives of budgetary stability and sustainability of public debt, the transposition of EU directives, making budgets, counter-terrorism measures and the main lines of foreign policy. In this regard, said that he is the one who more responsibility assumed as president of the largest party, but the other leaders, based on the support received, also have to collaborate: "We must avoid a third election, to channel the will expressed by the Spaniards in the polls, be respectful of what they have voted and offer a solution as soon as possible so as to maintain the strength of our economy."
Rajoy said that from Friday, step up negotiation efforts and open a round of talks, this time with the order of the King: "Within a reasonable period of time I will inform you of the efforts I have made, the result thereof, the I've gotten support for an eventual investiture and therefore, if I am able or not to form a Government." Investiture plenary could be held in late August or first week of September.
